Project summary

The aim of the project is to promote the development of skills and employability, and to modernize and improve the quality of education, training and youth work. It will contribute to the improvement of the quality of European and national education and training within the framework of transnational partnerships and to deliver results that will be used by the institutions of the partnership and their smaller, wider environment even after project closure.” The intention of the project is working out a combined set of thematic showcases and methodology as project intellectual output, including application of practice oriented creative tools to support STEM promotion. During the project each consortia partner defines its current good practice, it will be further developed using „creative approach”, make a pilot of the developed methodology, while continuously sharing within the consortia. Overall objectives of the project, main outputs: The project result will be innovative products and dissemination undertaken by exploitation of existing STEM approach using innovative ideas and good practices. The specific outcomes are: • Creative thematic showcase books for STEM promotion • Creative methodology handbook for STEM promotion and its know-how.

Objectives

The results of the project have been innovative products that have taken the promotion of STEM disciplines to a new level by using innovative and creative ideas to go beyond current best practices, while building on the existing strong technical expertise of the participating institutions. Thanks to the Transnational Partnership, the project has contributed to improving the quality of education and has produced results that can be used by the partnership institutions and their local communities after the project has ended. Transnational cooperation was a prerequisite for the project objectives, as the expected results, namely the Creative STEM Promotion Package (including thematic showcase book and a methodological handbook), could not have been achieved without transnational cooperation. There is great potential for the development and promotion of innovative teaching methods and tools in STEM subjects, which can be achieved through transnational cooperation as a result of the current partnership between the institutions involved. The international character of the project has greatly contributed to responding in a timely manner to technological changes and to providing quality training materials. The main benefit of the project has been the introduction of new and innovative teaching methods in the countries concerned through the four collaborating institutions.

Background

Our aim with this project was to develop a new and innovative combination of thematic promotion and creative methodology, including the use of practice-oriented approaches to support the promotion of STEM fields. The project helped partner universities to increase the number of applicants to STEM courses, especially in the challenging context of rural universities. Although STEM promotion methods were available in different institutions, there was a gap between the actual STEM workforce and the market needs. Moreover, institutions located in non-central regions of the country were at a much disadvantage in attracting young talent to STEM courses. These factors generated the basic needs and the problems solved by the project. The project's approach was not only to develop a new STEM promotion tool, but also to bring a higher level of creativity to new elements, all in systematic concepts, combining both thematic and methodological focus. This made the project unique at European level. Throughout the project, all consortium partners built on existing good practices, but took a creative approach to targeting improved methodologies, and then pilot-tested the methodologies developed, while continuously sharing their experiences within the consortia. The consortium partners involved in the project had considerable experience in the STEM fields and in the promotion of STEM professions. Sharing these experiences and competences contributed to the project, but international partnership and diverse background experiences were needed to develop a collaborative international team approach in order to reach the next level of creativity in the STEM promotion package. Sharing views, ideas and project results within the consortia and with other institutions in the target group was a priority during project implementation.
