Project summary

The submission of our application was motivated by several factors: most importantly, in accordance with the spirit of our time and our internal needs, environmental awareness, a healthy lifestyle and the pursuit of sustainability are important for all three institutions. We have all taken steps to do so, but we feel the need to do more for our natural and social environment than we can. That is why we consciously look for the opportunities that contribute to the renewal of our pedagogical methodological culture, to the foundation of our environmentally friendly way of life, and to the development of an approach to social responsibility. Even in the project partnership, we see the possibility of learning and renewal. We are institutions with a unique image but similar principles. Our goals are common in the field of environmental awareness, but the path to realization is different for all of us. Sharing individual methods and tools, adapting them to local specificities, and creating common methods and tools will give new impetus to our pedagogical practice, encourage changes in attitudes and the search for new ways. The partner of our previous successfully implemented Erasmus + program was the kindergarten of Csíkszentdomokos. We have built close professional and friendly relationships with our colleagues there, which we have been nurturing and maintaining ever since, and are looking for opportunities to continue working together professionally. As they live in the heart of Transylvania, they are surrounded by rich national, cultural and natural treasures, to which they give special attention to protect. We would like to transfer this deep commitment, patriotism, and sense of responsibility from them during the implementation of the project, and to pass it on to our children in the spirit of sustainability, to preserve it for the future. We came into contact with the kindergarten of Oradea through the University of Debrecen, as both institutions are the practice places for future kindergarten teachers. Our natural environment, hence the problems to be solved, are similar, so we can look for solutions together during the cooperation. All three institutions pay special attention to creating equal opportunities for disadvantaged children and families, so the three institutions share their experience in this field and jointly seek new ways to catch up with these families. The steps of the implementation process: the assessment of needs and requirements and the search for partners were followed by the formulation of common goals: the establishment of the need for environmental awareness and sustainability, the creation of equal opportunities for disadvantaged children and families, and professional renewal and exchange of good practices. In connection with these, the formation and development of the basic skills of the participants in the project is also one of our goals. For the 24 months of the project, we planned 8 mobility partner meetings, the content of which was developed in consultation with the three partners. The kindergarten in Hajdúsámson and Csíkszentdomokos will receive its partners 3-3, while the kindergarten in Oradea, which will be a new partner, will receive its partners twice. During the mobilities, all three institutions will present their good practices related to the red letter days related to the topic, their unique pedagogical methods, with special emphasis on the above-mentioned priorities. We have prepared a precise implementation plan for the schedule of partner meetings. The milestones of the implementation are the personal meetings, between which we also develop specific activities. These programs are implemented by all three partners in their own environment, within their network of contacts, and then they regularly inform the participating partners about the implementation process and results. We document the entire project process and make it available to stakeholders. As planned, we will create joint products with which we will enrich our methodological toolkit and make it available to other educational institutions, thus realizing some of our dissemination activities. Our goal is social responsibility and the formation of a positive attitude towards our environment, to set an example. To this end, we are expanding our dissemination activities. We publish our results in the local and regional digital and print press, on the websites and community pages of institutions and municipalities. Our long-term goal is to create a healthy, livable environment in close cooperation with our maintainers, minimizing the environmental impact we cause: use of renewable energy sources, contacting local suppliers, use of environmentally friendly cleaning products, increasing green areas, preferring natural materials and equipment, selective waste collection, composting, recycling, conscious rethinking of consumer habits, and incorporating all of these into institutional strategy documents.

Final report summary

The start of our project fell on the 2020 virus situation, so we also benefited from the extension of the term. As a primary goal, we named the shaping of the environmentally conscious attitude of preschool children, as well as the attitude of families through them, which we managed to achieve. We held our 1st partner meeting online under the leadership of the coordinating institution. Our partners presented the tasks related to the topic, their work in kindergartens with videos and photo compilations: use of recycled materials, tree planting. We held the two planned presentations, related to teacher burnout and children's posture improvement exercises. Parents were not involved this time due to the virus situation, but we made the forest trips with the children. We held 3 partner meetings in 2021/22 and 5 in 2022/23. We had to change the order, as we could not keep the original times. We have already held 1 meeting online, so we were also able to work on the 9th topic, entitled "Healthy like the acorn". In the periods between partner meetings, we processed in our children's groups the new knowledge that we had gathered at the host institution (bear cave, forest field table, csuhé flower, family contests at several locations, mental health games, development of movement coordination with folk children's games). Our preschool life is based on a system that repeats itself cyclically, following the changes in nature and important days, and we can use the acquired new knowledge for years. Between the meetings, we held online meetings, so our digital competences also improved During the meetings in Nagyvárad, Martin's Day traditions played a major role, as well as the use of natural materials in the kindergarten. In addition, we were able to learn about the beneficial effects of popular children's games, as well as discover the natural values of the area. We have been using the technique of using natural materials learned there ever since. The most important elements of the meetings in Csíkszentdomokos were related to nature conservation: how to teach our children that forests and natural waters must be protected for the sake of our own health (the source of the Olt river, learning about mofetas, drinking water purifier). In addition, we were also able to take a look at the production of natural foods. Since then, we have been making preserves, jams, and dried fruit The most important topics of the partner meetings held in our kindergarten were related to World Water and Earth Day, and they provided a wide range of knowledge on the given topics. (water experiments, a visit to a sewage plant, a competition on the occasion of World Earth Day) We involved parents in our activities during the meetings and in the period between them (family quizzes, trips, tree planting, garbage collection, bicycle tours, educational lectures). Thanks to this, the families' commitment to environmental awareness has also deepened. All our programs were free and open to the public,so even families in difficult financial situations could join to us. We shared the professional materials we prepared with the teachers of other kindergartens. Our results were regularly published in the local and regional digital and print media.
