Background The project being applied for is based on the well working long-term sister school relationship. Cooperation and friendship between Kisújszállás and Wilamowice has existed since joining the European Union on the basis of local governments, educational institutions and towns organisations. Since the beginning of the cooperation among four secondary schools (Kisújszállás, Wilamowice, Dankowice and Pisarzowice) in 2007 fourteen short term students exchanges have been made with almost 1000 students visiting each partner's school. At the beginning the aim of the mobilities was to get to know each other and to enjoy the stay, but thanks to the E+ Project we took part in in 2016 our partnership has reached a higher level with the carrying out of the Students Enterprise Programme While Learning from Each Other being the main objective. Within the last two years due to the changes in the Polish educational system two more elementary schools from Hecznarowice and Stara Wies have joined the partnership. Objectives. The Project's main point is to create the environmental awareness, to acknowledge the great responsibility of the future condition of our environment. Let the students of our schools be aware of the waste of fossil fuel and mineral resources and the threats it causes. Let them learn about the necessaty of the environmental protection and sustainability as well as the importance of waste reduction in their everyday life. Concerning the objective we are planning to perform numerous activities: - Earth Day celebrations - Learning the importance of waste recycling - Using waste to make different things - Cleaning events, litter collection organisation - Getting knowledge about organisations which deal with the alternative energy resources. - The partner schools will show the environmental condition of their neighbourhoods sharing the experience in environmental protection and will organise competitions on the matter. The students often use their computers preparing presentations (using the English language as well). We consider English as a language of mutual understanding and communication. Beyond the professional content this cooperation will help the two nations to become even closer and to better understand each other. The participants The number of students taking part in each mobility is 25 so it makes 100 people in all the Project's 4 mobilities. However if we take into account all of the activities it will be the whole classes involved and sometimes even schools (e.g. garbage collecting). The number of teachers involved in the project is 4-6 per school. The science techers' task is to provide the students with the necessary professional knowledge. The English teachers help translate professional parts as well as the students communication. The IT colleagues will also provide help with presentations and use of ICT devices. Implementation At the preparatory stage the teachers will hold a meeting. They will discuss the tasks and the schedule appointing those responsible for their carrying out. At this stage 4 mobilities will take place. Before each the students will have to get prepared on the certain earlier discussed topic. During the mobilities there will be together with the professional part cultural, sports and other entertainment events. At the closing stage sharing the experience, results evaluation, solving problems will be seen to. Results to be looked forward to - Products made by the students.,presentations, placards, photographs, logos, things made of waste. - Environmental protection programmes, campaigns, competitions. - Displaying documentation and pictures (on the programme). - Improving the knowledge of the organisations involving in environmental protection. - Learning from each other's experience. - Leading healthy lifestyle and participating in environmental protection. Influences Improving the involved students' environmental Awareness. They will get the invaluable knowledge and practice that will help them to become more environmental aware (e.g. managing waste wisely). They will get to know the organisations that deal with the issues standing in the way for the better future (water suppliers, sewage cleaning, waste recycling plant). The young people participating in the project will become more environmentally concerned doing their best in the future to make the planet cleaner and more suitable to live on for the generations to come.
The project's context This very program, carried out by the schools, has been based on the previous very successful cooperation of the sister schools. From the time when Hungary joined the EU, the relationships between Kisujszállás and Wilamowice have been going on at numerous levels:Councils, aducational and other institutions of our towns. The cooperation started in 2007 among 4 schools (Kisujszállás, Wilamowice, Dankowice and Pisarzowice). Since then 16 short term students exchanges have happened, resulting in about 1100 students having visited one another's schools. In the beginning, the main reason for the mobilities was entertainment and getting to know each other, but, thanks to E+ project in 2016, the cooperation got to a higher level with its objectives of the students enterprises and learning from each other. A few years ago, due to the educational reform in Poland, the partners schools circle broadened, increasing by 2 more Polish elementary schools from Hecznarowice and Stara Wies, whereas secondary education was removed from Wilamowice. As a result, we had to make certain changes in the circle of the students involved in order to avoid significant age difference between our and Polish students. From then on, we started to choose the youngest whereas the Polish schools the eldest pupils to participate in the projects. It has appeared that 1-2 years age difference is not a problem and students can cooperate perfectly. The project's objectives To our knowledge, all the objectives, been set earlier, we have accomplished. Our main aim was to shape students attitude towards environmental awareness, their ability to form responsibility for the condition of the environment they live in, trying to understand all the threats to it and doing their best to protect it(e.g. how to reduce the amount of rubbish) The activities, carried out in order to reach our goals: - making presentations, videos about nature protection, National Parks, water and waste management as well as sources of energy, - visiting such services as water and heat power plants, sewage works, waste disposal plants, - guided tours in national parks, - working on mutual competitions (best project logo, photography, views of the future) - organizing the special days at school, e.g. Earth Water. - taking part in rubbish collection, - recycling projects (making things out of garbage, eco fashion show). Preparing their videos and presentations, students have used numerous ICT resources. The level of the presentations was diverse but quite sufficient concerning the age of the participants. They took photos and videos, interviewed people and did the editing all by themselves. As a result, very interesting, up to date, valuable material has been produced. The language of the media products was English, so the students were able to improve their skills in that area either. Furthermore, we consider ed quite important to strengthen sympathy and mutual understanding between the two nations by visiting historical places and organizing different events dedicated to our friendship. Realization The program, under the pressure of necessity, was going on for 3 years. From the pandemic caused delay we managed to take advantage after all. Firstly, we used the year without mobilities for even better preparation and it was then when we made the first steps to create new Sustainability educational material and to build it into our curriculum, as well as creating a new website. From the second year on, everything went according to the plan. We organized 2 teachers and 4 students mobilities. To our delight, we managed to involve into the project such organizations as Polish Ambassy, Polish Institute and visitors centre in Szarvas. Results - themed students mobilities - our own project website: https://erasmus-kornyezet.hu/ - creating professional material open to the public, lectors invitation (photographer, national park and bee keeper presentations), material made by the students (presentations, videos, interviews posters). - competitions, photos, logos, products made from recyclable garbage, - rubbish collecting campings - visiting different services important to the project Impacts Effects - increasing knowledge on sustainability of the involved students - growing students environmental awareness, their sence of responsibility for the environment, - learning certain methods of environmental protection - Sustainability subject built in the curriculum - broadening Polish Hungarian friendship - being able to master the knowledge of English by learning new vocabulary concerning the project - improving socializing abilities (teamwork, cooperation, learning from each other) - exchange of experience among schools.
