Objectives

Participating in an Erasmus project on teaching literacy through storytelling and mythologies can bring numerous benefits to both staff and students. Here are a few potential advantages: Benefits for Staff: 1. Professional Development: Staff members will have the opportunity to enhance their teaching skills through learning and exchanging best practices with educators from different countries. They can gain new strategies and techniques for teaching literacy effectively. 2. Cultural Exchange: Engaging with colleagues from different countries promotes cultural understanding and appreciation. Staff members can learn about diverse storytelling traditions and mythologies, broadening their own perspective. 3. Networking: Collaborating with educators from various European schools opens avenues for networking and establishing long-term partnerships. This can lead to future collaborative projects and the exchange of knowledge and resources. Benefits for Students: 1. Improved Literacy Skills: Through storytelling and exploring mythologies, students develop essential literacy skills, such as reading comprehension, critical thinking, and creative writing. These activities provide a meaningful context to engage with language and increase their motivation to learn. 2. Cultural Awareness: Studying mythologies from different cultures helps students understand and appreciate diverse worldviews. It promotes empathy, tolerance, and respect by exposing them to different beliefs, values, and traditions. 3. Enhanced Creativity: Storytelling encourages students to use their imagination, think outside the box, and express themselves creatively. They can explore different narrative structures, character development, and themes, fostering their own storytelling abilities. 4. Language Development: Engaging with mythologies and storytelling exposes students to rich and varied vocabulary, enhancing their language skills. It helps improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities, which can have a positive impact across different subjects.
