Objectives

Our objectives were that the college would add to our Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) Work Experience module. The work experience module is a core component in all of the course we offer. Students being able to complete their work experience in a different European country really adds to their overall experience and enhance their knowledge of working abroad. The students will be formally assessed by a supervisor and the results of their assessment added to their overall marks in their work experience module. Our objective is the Mobility activities for students will create and promote a European dimension to the college. This will open up the students experience and ensure they will be working in a diverse environment that demonstrates they are ready to embrace new ideas and respond to the European jobs market. As we have a diverse cultural in the college due to many different nationalities by using European documents such as Europass and Mobility documents will further enhance students competencies. Our objective of increased enrolment number in the college will be achieved by enhancing the college profile through promotion of the Erasmus+ student mobility programme and expanding into more VET motilities.

Background

Participating in the Erasmus+ Mobility programme the students have the opportunity to complete their work experience in a European country. As a result, the students will be provided with an international learning platform which will further their education and enhance their employment prospects. They will gain experience of cultural diversity and exposure to innovative work practices. Being able to undertake this placement in a different country will give the students a broader outlook and an experience which will enrich their learning. Greenhills Community College has successfully completed one student mobility in April 2022 and because of this success we wish to continue to offer Erasmus+ student mobility in our college. Management competencies within the college will also be improved by participation in this project as it requires organizational skills and coordination. This mobility will be of huge benefit to teachers and staff in an era where closer involvement in European projects is a key element of the future in our country. This project will become part of our Self-Evaluation and Programme Improvement process, as previously witnessed our participation has improved the teaching and learning experiences of our teachers and students. The profile of our students is within the age group 18 – 27 years and they come from different educational, socio-economic and culture backgrounds.
