Background

Errigal College set out a plan at the start of the academic year 2019/20 of increasing European collaboration, through through the Erasmus+ student mobility. The college recognizes the need to enhance European relations and give students opportunities to work and travel abroad. We wanted to provide a valuable learning experience for our PLC students and to strengthen the European dimension to PLC courses on offer in the College and to enhance students employability and add value to the national qualification attained by our Post Leaving Certificates participants. The College can see the changing face of society and this relates to preparing our students for living and working in a strongly integrated and inclusive society. There is a need to promote inter-cultural understanding and tolerance & wellbeing. We also applied for this opportunity to provide participants with new learning experiences that may encourage and support them to progress to Higher Education and full time employment. The main goals for the college are as follows: Establish and develop long term European connections. Equip students with academic and soft skills to work across Europe. Create work placement opportunities abroad. Raise the profile of the College. Create an inclusive education setting. Develop students with cultural awareness. In line with the European guideline on New Skills Agenda (2016) the college wishes to improve the quality and relevance of training and especially work-based learning. In addition, the College hopes to enhance employability skills and aid students to make better career choices, find quality jobs and improve life skills.
