Objectives

The overarching goal of this project was to further enhance our staff capacity in specific areas. To achieve these goals, our staff mobility project had the following objectives: Expose staff to innovative approaches for inclusion - from integrating language, literacy, digital literacy, and numeracy into teaching, training, learning, and service design. Familiarise staff with high-quality curriculum design methods supporting language, literacy, digital literacy, and numeracy development tailored to diverse learners, subjects, and levels. Provide opportunities for staff to attend European conferences and events focused on inclusion policy and practice- including linguistic and cultural diversity and multiculturalism Acknowledge and reward the efforts of learning practitioners integrating language, literacy, and numeracy by facilitating their participation in European mobilities. Foster a culture of innovation and reflection by encouraging staff to exchange ideas and share best practices with colleagues both in Europe and domestically. Through these objectives, we hoped to successfully enrich our organisational practices, promote innovation, and contribute to the continuous improvement of adult education services.

Background

LCETB applied for the "Integrating Language, Literacies Digital and Numeracy in Adult Education Provision" project in 2020 to deepen its commitment to active inclusion. Our application for this project in reflected a strategic approach looking at matching the project with our organisations key priority areas. We hoped to enhance existing initiatives by leveraging the European project experience, with mobilities aligned with national and local policies and strategies - e.g. SOLAS Literacy and Numeracy Strategy, and Literacy and ESOL Initial Assessment Guidelines. We have a mandate for second chance education, literacy, numeracy, ESOL, and refugee resettlement. We also have a commitment to professional development, as outlined in the FET Professional Development Action Plan. This emphasizes building capacity in teaching and learning, with Erasmus Plus Staff Mobility Projects playing a key role .
