Countries: IE · Grant: €126,100.44

Objectives

The aims of this project were to facilitate those with limited opportunities for independent travel due to physical disabilities, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds to have the opportunity to study and gain experience within their vocational area in another European country. This project aimed to support and facilitate all students with a strong emphasis on inclusivity; thus ensuring that those with additional learning needs, or 'non traditional learners' would have opportunities to increase their independence, and, for those who who wish to progress to higher education, to prepare them for this transition. We sought to maximise the quality, and quantity, of international mobilities for students; to increase the number of accompanying persons to scaffold participants learning, and to secure professional development placements for staff training abroad. Although mobilities were spread across a number of vocational areas including sports & exercise science, travel & tourism, business, childcare, social studies, nursing and arts sectors; we hoped to add partnerships and work experiences opportunities that would reflect the European priority of increasing employability.

Background

This project, which was due to be completed in August 2021, aimed to promote life-long and life-wide learning through the facilitation of international mobilities. As a college we aimed to reinforce our existing international dimension by furthering the development and scope of the participating organisations we are partnered with. The vision of the CDETB is that every person has the right to the education, training, and, learning opportunities that will help them to reach their full potential and this should be flexible, inclusive and best suit a broad spectrum of learning styles. The vison of CDETB linked directly with the aims of this project which was to further develop quality international mobilities that facilitate capacity building for learners and staff. With an increasing number of adult learners returning to education, our tertiary sector aims to provide learners with opportunities to develop skills to advance within their current or a new vocational area or to progress to higher education. Offering the chance to participate in an international mobility affords all learners with opportunities to explore other cultures, to challenge themselves and to enhance their skills enabling them to reach their potential.
