Objectives

The objectives envisaged by the courses and training of teachers and staff are the following: 1. Strengthen the active participation of teachers in international and European cooperation. 2. Improve teaching and practical methods, strategies, and techniques. 3. Increase progress, dynamic, innovative, creative, and qualitative art teaching, design, and methods in line with the objectives and policy of the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts. 4. Encourage ongoing teaching and professional development to take advantage of opportunities to pursue lifelong learning and continuing education in international and European cooperation, with the main emphasis on increasing and broadening the teachers' knowledge, experience, and expertise. 5. Facilitate students' access to art methods and techniques, new technologies, and strategies. 6. Contribute to the qualitative execution and implementation of projects, workshops, creative art, and teaching classes.

Background

The overall project aims to enhance the art teaching strategies and approaches, techniques, and methods. The project outcomes are equally reflected in the teaching practice and students' skills. The project envisaged gaining broader knowledge and teaching skills and methodology, getting familiar with new techniques and methods, and gathering new ideas of art design practices as a result of cooperation with schools, studios and universities in Italy and United Kingdom. The teachers courses and training abroad brought creative and innovative teaching approaches and new art skills. The training topics were: inks and ochres techniques, etching and aquatints drawing techniques, hand building technique of large scale sculpture and egg tempera painting.
