Objectives

This job shadowing project was the first step to initiate job shadowing as a part of our international strategy in the coming years. Our goal is to connect our school in a higher degree to other schools abroad and participate in international projects which we can cooperate with other relevant institutions. To send our a couple of our teachers abroad for job shadowing had therefore multiple goals. - Give our teachers the opportunity to learn from their colleagues abroad, broaden their our teachers horizon and see how our colleagues in Germany approach teaching in similar topics. - Becoming more active when it comes to international projects and cooperating with schools abroad.

Background

Being an institution that constantly is moving forward and working hard on improving school activities, studies and services for students, staff and other interested parties, the opportunity for our staff to travel abroad and participate in international projects is vital. To avoid status quo it is important to encourage the staff to grow and develop in their jobs, this way both employees will develop their schools, widening their horizon et cetera, and the institution will gain highly from it since the staff is constantly bringing new knowledge in to the school. Job shadowing is an ideal opportunity for our staff to witness how people in similar jobs do things, and in this particular project the aim was to give our teachers the opportunity to observe the teaching methods of their colleagues in Germany and experience the environment in which students, teachers and other staff members work. First and foremost, the project was about giving our teachers an insight into different practices than those we know and be able to learn from it and pass on within the school.
