The “S.T.A.R.T.” project made it possible to: -improve the technical skills, referable to job profile such as Tourism Promoter, Cook, Catering Services Technician, of 74 Ligurian recent graduates through transnational mobility experiences; -improve the educational curricula of the partner Institutes through on-the-job activities supporting the theoretical skills learnt in the classroom; -implement placement activities abroad to guide students’ job placement; -facilitate post-diploma monitoring through digital tools; -creating networks between educational institutions, sector bodies and the corporate world at national and European level; -increasing School inclusion of foreign pupils and those with social problems through the introduction of innovative methodologies; -internationalise the curricula of Consortium institutions to provide students with the technical, linguistic and transversal skills and knowledge essential for finding employment in Italian or foreign companies.
The project “S.T.A.R.T. - Supporting Training Activities to Raise Tourism quality”, n.2020-1-IT01-KA102-008069, coordinated by the I.P.S.E.O.A. “Nino Bergese” of Genova, saw the collaboration of the I.P.S.E.O.A. “Marco Polo” of Genova, the I.I.S. “Giancardi-Galilei-Aicardi” of Alassio, the I.I.S. of Finale Ligure, the I.P.S.A.A.R. “G. Casini” of La Spezia, the I.I.S. “E. Ruffini - D. Aicardi” of Arma di Taggia. “S.T.A.R.T.” wanted to respond to the demands of the dynamic and evolving tourism sector in Liguria. As pointed out by A.N.P.A.L. in 2019, in the face of tourism growth, in Liguria there was a youth employment emergency (34,3% unemployment) that persisted despite the need for qualified personnel in the tourism and food and wine sector, estimated at more than 20.,000. The underlying causes of this gap were attributable to an Educational Offer that offered sporadic on the job training experiences that did not allow students to develop the technical and linguistic skills and international orientation necessary to enter the world of work.
