Objectives

The progressive introduction of the principles inspired by the Industry 4.0 paradigm and the increase of mechanical companies operating in Europe require an innovation of the training paths - already existing - within the VET of the mechanical sector. These renewals can only take place through a process of updating and revising staff competences about the so-called "Skill 4.0." The European Project My Skills 4.0 was born in this context with the aim of supporting the Lombardy VET system in the mechanical field in the updating of its training offers in view of 4.0. The overall aim of the project was to update the skills of its teaching staff regarding the state of the art of Industry 4.0 technologies; Designing new training courses and/or updating its training offers concerning digital transfor-mation; Promote the link between the business world and the world of training; Promote the strengthening of a network for the exchange of good practices at the European level, promoting cooperation with companies and training centres of excellence.

Background

Taking advantage of the support of Assolombarda and enhancing what it institutionally achieves for the benefit of the Lombard VET system, in 2019 ECOLE took part in an informal working group, consisting of Lombard VET institutions active on mechanical courses, aimed at starting an exchange and discussion on the future of the mechanical VET system. After having identified in most of the participating institutions its own needs regarding the modernization of the mechanical training offer in a 4.0 perspective, ECOLE formalised the Consortium of the MY SKILLS 4.0 project, consisting of 6 active initial and continuing Vocational Education and Training bodies in the areas of Milan and Monza Brianza, and the ITS foundation for new mechanical and mechatronic technologies. MySkills 4.0 Mobility project has been the first activity taken by the Consortium, with the aim of reinforcing training offer in Lombardy Region in mechanical courses, introducing new skills and competence arising from the labour market evolution and driven by digital transformation processes.
