Background

Regarded as centre of the movement of people and goods between North-South and East-West Europe, the Novara area has been experiencing for several years an economic crisis characterised by a progressive decrease in job opportunities and an impoverishment of resources dedicated to financing education and training. In order to contribute to the recovery of its territory and to meet the needs expressed by the Piedmont Region in the "Strategy for Intelligent Specialisation (S3)", which calls for a workforce increasingly open to innovation and able to make the Piedmont economic system competitive on an international scale and on the basis of the successes achieved (Erasmus Accreditation 2021-2027; Mobility Charter VET 2015-2020; Good practice VET 2014-2017 (MIUR-INAPP Catalogue). In the last 15 years 41000 students have been selected with more than 1160 mobilities in Europe (of which about 910 in Erasmus+ VET mobility formerly Leonardo da Vinci) for a total of about 235. 000 hours of 'tutored' work carried out abroad by students. In 2020/22 the CSCI continued its internationalisation strategy centred on the mobility of students and teachers of its 17 Technical and Professional Institutes in Novara and its province.
