Objectives

The academic courses involved in the project are tourism and the sectors connected: marketing and administration, information technology for business, ITC, agricultural studies, arts, and foreign languages. The project, through the fulfillment of the formative program abroad and the internships in companies, aimed at developing knowledge abilities and competencies thanks to different ways as compared to formal learning, since direct experience of the world of work allows to emphasize transversal contents. So, the project, in addition to developing professional abilities connected to the course of studies, aims at enhancing linguistic, relational, and multicultural competencies and the sense of belonging to Europe. At the same time, other soft skills have been exercised and consolidated transversally crucial to the world of work: flexibility, self-learning, personal autonomy and organisation, ability to take responsibility, team working, and problem-solving. At the same time, the project contributed to the teachers' lifelong formation towards school innovation, both aiming at methodological renewal and the application of more inclusive teaching.

Background

The THREE (Training, Human Resource, European Education) project is implemented by a consortium of schools in the so-called 'Bassa Padovana' area. For the local economy, which is agricultural and mainly based on handicrafts and small business activities, with the relevance of tourism, hospitality, and related services, international opening represents an opportunity and a necessity, since these areas are geographically decentralised with respect to traditional tourist and trade routes. The project participants live in small communities, in a marginality that may become a reason for inadequacy in the face of rapid changes, including social changes too. Thanks to mobility, the project aims at offering future employees formative opportunities to acquire not only knowledge and techno-professional competencies but also to enhance relationships with others, either at the gender level or native culture, to feel the difference as a resource and not only as a limit. Together with the linguistic and professional tools, the project aims at intercultural awareness, considered one of the essential competencies to ignite innovation processes (anchored to the potential tourist attractiveness of the territory), as well as social cohesion.
