Objectives

The European development plan consisted of medium and long-term objectives calibrated both on the recommendations of the European Commission on multilingualism and language learning and on the impact results of previous KA101 Erasmus experiences coordinated by USR Piemonte: • encourage transnational mobility for the continuous professional development of language teachers at kindergarten and primary school; • implement the linguistic-methodological training of teachers to improve the effectiveness of language teaching and, consequently, the linguistic mastery of students; • promote multilingualism and mutual understanding between people of different cultures; • enhance early language learning starting from kindergarten; • promote the exchange of good practices and innovate the foreign language curricula within a European dimension; • ensure the impact, transferability and sustainability, on the Regional territory, of methodological approaches and practices acquired during the mobilities and tested through research-action paths; • increase the opportunities for exchanges with European schools through Erasmus Plus and eTwinning projects.

Background

The project was born from the need for continuity and sustainability of the training actions, in a European dimension, promoted by USR Piedmont to support early language learning and multilingualism of Comprehensive Institutes in Piemonte Region. An initial recognition of training needs revealed the need for long life methodological-linguistic training of primary school teachers of English and French and for constant support of language learning experiences in kindergarten. The Consortium, made up of 62 schools, variously distributed throughout Piemonte Region, was therefore born with the aim of creating a regional network for Languages to support primary and pre-schools interested in modernizing foreign language curricula, strengthening experiences of early foreign language learning, implementing bilingual projects in French language in primary schools, especially in cross-border territories, and promoting European cooperation through eTwinning and Erasmus+ actions, thanks to the involvement of the beneficiaries as "expert trainers" in local and regional training events and experiences of mutual peer teaching in the network Institutes to exchange best practices and support each other in the innovation process.
