GENIUS was the result of careful reflection by the entire school staff on the very identity that San Pio X needed to strengthen in the medium to long term. Our Educational Development Plan (EDP) focused on three development directions: - Revitalizing the internationalization of the projects and implementing didactic and managerial strategies to build a true European school, following the European School Improvement Area. - Linguistic empowerment and innovation in language teaching for primary teachers: the educational and didactic guidelines of the Educational and Teaching Plan (PTOF) identified the enhancement of multilingualism as the integrative background of the school's identity, establishing the Innovative School Improvement Area. - Consolidating cutting-edge inclusive strategies, which were particularly necessary for a school with a significant number of students with special educational needs (SEN). Therefore, it was imperative to develop teaching methodologies that better catered to students' actual learning needs to ensure improvement in the Inclusive School Improvement Area. Each improvement area had objectives and benchmarks to achieve. These have been successfully accomplished.
The school has found itself facing a constant challenge of educational innovation linked to the ongoing changes in society, which directly or indirectly influence cultural change. It was necessary to address new educational needs by developing skills that would allow overcoming difficulties that, although present in our educational systems, required to be tackled with new tools and strategies. Our institute has always aimed to conceive a school model that could meet the needs of a rapidly evolving society, and to do so, it identified internationalization as an essential tool within its educational framework. The shortcomings primarily related to three areas: - The need to develop a European approach to planning, management, and implementation of administration and teaching. - The need to enhance students' interest and outcomes in learning the English language through the systematic application of innovative methodologies. - The need to adopt cutting-edge practices and tools to ensure the educational success of all students, regardless of their socio-cultural background and initial abilities.
