We wanted to enable teachers to : - create a) engaging content ready-to-be-used in class; b) captivating presentations; c) non-traditional visual content; d) video content; e) digital quizzes and questionnaires - search and share already-made digital resources; - use social media to stay connected; - be familiar with platform for videoconferencing.
Back at the end of 2019, after a meeting with my principal and a few member of the staff, it was clear to all of us participating at that meeting that a through analysis of student satisfaction questionnaires led to a kind self evident conclusion: students and family were on average happy with the school organization and the quality of lessons delivered but they pointed out the the teaching methods were outdated. It was somehow required, though not clearly stated, the teacher of 2020 was supposed to have good digital skills for two reasons: a) in order to make the learner feel active during class, it was very helpful to offer the teachers a good knowledge of ITC tools so that they could be in a position of replanning their classes and planning digital activities; b) maybe most importantly, the principal let us know, during that meeting, that a growing number of students, although enrolled in our school, were not physically attending classes for various reasons (a semester abroad, serious health problems....); it was therefore our duty to come up with ideas and instruments to make the connection between students-far-from-school and teachers-at school possible, effective and productive.
