Objectives

The key objectives of the projects were: - to update, internationalize and develop the European dimension in all school stakeholders, in order to create networks and collaborations among institutions and organizations from different countries; - to encourage linguistic learning of teachers and administrative staff and improve their communicative skills; - to enhance the learning offer of the school, improving the European dimension of the key competencies of citizenship in order to achieve better learning success; - to give teachers professional and intercultural learning opportunities in order to enhance the awareness of European citizenship.

Background

When the project was submitted in May 2020, the school had some needs related to the improvement of fundamental competencies for students and the increase of European soft skills. The school wanted to prevent early school leaving and school failure through more effective motivation and strategies of management of class groups implementing target actions to support inclusion. Besides, based on the analysis of RAV (Italian self-evaluation report for schools) and on the last data of INVALSI (a national quality test) for English, students had an L2 level under the average of the European Framework. Last but not least the school was participating in 2 KA229 projects. So that the institution wanted to act on teachers and administrative staff with a project whose goals were: 1. improving L2 competencies of teachers of linguistic and non-linguistic learning; 2. "doing school" from a less regional, but more European point of view; 3. comparing other educational systems; 4. adopting inclusive teaching strategies to motivate and integrate all students to encourage tolerance and diversity values; 3. adopting active teaching methodologies in order to integrate "soft skills" and "hard skills".
