The ALICE project was implemented in order to develop and enhance the skills necessary for teachers to promote the internationalization of education/education paths, carrying out effective actions to encourage the exchange and integration of curricula between the different countries of the Union, promoting the flexible integration of students into the labor market and supporting the culture of the enterprise and competitiveness. In detail, the Alice project intended to promote: - the development and strengthening of the necessary skills of the Institute's staff to promote the internationalization of VET pathways, business culture and competitiveness, the exchange of educational-training experiences, the construction of European networks; - the enhancement of teachers' skills in the organization and effective management of the group-class, interaction with students in order to support motivation and reduce the risk of failure/abandonment, especially among students in disadvantaged conditions (foreign students , pupils with special educational needs) and at risk of social exclusion (foreigners and/or with fewer opportunities).
In an area characterized by a youth unemployment rate above the national average (31.3% against 30.1%) and with high school dropouts in line with the national average (24%), the Mattei Institute stands among the educational excellences of the area with a range of 54% employed within two years of graduating and with a Scientific High School with the Applied Sciences option which turns out to be the school that best prepares for university studies in the Abruzzo Region (FGA index 80.9, source Eduscopio 2017 - Study by the Agnelli Foundation). However, these results must be confirmed with a constant commitment to the modernization of the training offer. For these reasons Mattei has defined among its priorities: - the improvement of technical-professional, linguistic and transversal skills, certifying/assessing the skills that can be used in international study and work contexts, - the reduction of early school leaving of students with fewer opportunities: this stimulates the ability of Mattei teachers to respond adequately to the training needs of their students through the enhancement of inclusive teaching actions
