Objectives

The main results we expected from our project were: - to enable our teachers to have a European experience and to acquire teaching skills and new teaching strategies to bring and adopt in our school - to exchange experiences and build relationships, contacts for the creation of partnerships for future Erasmus+ programmes and for the consolidation of existing partnerships - consolidate knowledge of English. Our wish was that as many students as possible would benefit from the innovations made by the teachers who participated in these training activities. This path, from the evaluations and feedback received, has already strengthened the perception of the importance of the school's European dimension and has also led the school to obtain accreditation in KA1 adult mobility within a short period of time. The experiences abroad and the comparison and exchange of good practices with European colleagues have contributed to an increasing focus on Europe and on the promotion of diversity, multicultural integration and social inclusion, which are central elements in the PTOF.

Background

First of all, we sent out the application form to respond to the new training needs of CPIA teachers who constantly interact with foreign students: these students, who have recently arrived in Italy, have poor Italian language skills and teachers use vehicular languages with them. We focused on learning new teaching methodologies, using new approaches and improving the language skills of teachers. We found individual mobility in the field of adult education a great opportunity to - consolidate our teachers' knowledge of English; - observe the work of educational and civic organisations in different European countries involved in adult education; - explore the methodologies used in Europe: - familiarise themselves with teaching materials used abroad. The specific aim of the CPIA is to work on lifelong learning, taking into consideration the retraining of those who have left the education system; we felt that mobility in Europe was an important tool to strengthen our work in this field. Mobility and training at European level were useful for acquiring new skills, building welcoming environments and innovative learning paths in the classroom.
