Objectives

An important objective was to help teachers plan interventions in education that educate on inclusion, acceptance, tolerance and that are able to show the potential of diversity in cooperation with civil society associations. The second objective achieved was to enable participants to acquire technical and educational skills to deal with pupils and users coming from a migration background. (e.g. knowledge of the legislative context but also of the cultural and social models of learners/users); The third objective focused on the European context and offered a range of resources and networks from both institutions and civil society to guide and support lifelong learning. Based on the assumption that mutual knowledge is indispensable (e.g. adult education policies, opportunities, main actors). Also relevant to the project was the achievement of the objective of investing in innovation for social inclusion, through the implementation of creative methodologies based on multidisciplinarity between education and artistic practices, in particular theatre.

Background

The GROOVEurope project arose from the need to train adult education staff through a mix of structured training experiences and job shadowing at specialised institutions in the following fields: voluntary work, educational design, inclusive education for migrants and creative education for inclusion. The overall objective guiding all the consortium's work is to create an educational offer for adults, both formal and non-formal, an expression of the public and the third sector, that is truly inclusive and leaves no-one behind. The title refers to the English word "groove", which indicates a rhythmic series that repeats cyclically, usually every beat; it is a popular term, in use since the 1960s, its literal translation is groove, groove and in the musical sphere it indicates the groove of vinyl records; however, there is also the English verb "to groove", in use with the meaning of having a good time. The GROOVEurope project wanted to leave a groove, in Europe and in the contexts of the consortium partners (CSVnet, CPIA of Bologna and CPIA of Imola), and to promote inclusive, innovative and fun education.
