Objectives

The project had the aim of implementing social circus activities in the area of social and work inclusion of vulnerable adults, in particular it had the aim of strengthening the following areas: 1) implementation and economic sustainability of social circus workshops aimed at families, young people and adults; 2) implementation of circus workshops for people with disabilities; 3) in-depth study of aspects and training methodologies on specific areas of performing art with a social impact, ensuring that each show brings with it a story and its own emotional journey; 4) organization and management of contemporary circus festivals, with activation of the collective in the European context and entry of the social circus into the European contemporary circus schools, in order to promote festivals that could host artists from different countries and send their artists to the international festival that combine art with social.

Background

The CIRCOmmunity project was presented to respond to enhance the practices of social inclusion of adults in the area of disability. The aim was to learn good practices from other organizations that manage a social circus and to use the performing arts as a form of social inclusion and employment opportunities for people in difficulty, especially in contexts where the social circus is strongly recognized by the institutions as a tool of intervention to be used with vulnerable people. The project also intended to integrate training activities with teaching and job shadowing activities, giving staff the opportunity to experiment in foreign activities and contexts and learn new skills and competences by doing. The possibility of being known in many other realities would have fueled the possibility of expanding the working context at a European level, taking into account the professionalism of Tenrock with respect to the performing arts, Il Faro for the development of the inclusion area, G&S for the event organization area and to Idea Radio for the dissemination and promotion of events.
