The "FABULA C-Plus: Circular Economy applied to FABULA Project Framework" project, through interactive, gamified and laboratory teaching delivery, develops consciousness and knowledge in students of classes IV and/or V (9-11 years of age) of Primary Schools in Italy, Spain and Greece and an ability to adopt behaviours oriented to the circular economy, experimenting and producing new creative and inventive ideas for an early entrepreneurial vision in the field of reuse and recycling of resources and materials. The project focuses on the educational field, valorising the Primary School as a fundamental actor to promote the culture of sustainability, environmental sensitivity together with a proactive and enterprising way of thinking and acting, to give waste a "second life" transforming it into something artistically and entrepreneurially new. In the EU, 15 tons of materials per person are used every year, while every citizen generates over 4.5 tons of waste per year, half of which is disposed of in landfills. It is clear that the linear economy is no longer a viable option. The circularity rate in Italy is only 17.1%, in 5th place in the EU, just before Spain (8.2%). Last is Greece 1.3%. (Eurostat 2019) Measures such as the best environmentally friendly design, the prevention and reuse of waste can generate the EU savings of up to €604 billion (8% of annual turnover), reducing annual greenhouse gas emissions by 4 %. Increasing resource productivity by 30% by 2030 could increase GDP by almost 1% and create over 2 million jobs. The project foresees: 1) the consolidation of an international multi-player network for the adaptation of education programs to the current and future needs of society and the labor market in the emerging sector of the circular economy 2) the creation of Open Educational Resources in the form of virtual tours, consisting of 360° images, intuitively navigable from all devices, to allow students to immersively and interactively visit some locations that are symbols of their daily lives (home, park, school) to accompany them in a precocious cultural leap to face the challenge of the circular model with awareness. In support of the OER, in the different partnership languages we will also produce: a) Teachers' handbook containing the guidelines useful to perform activities in the classroom better, providing teachers with technical and didactic support to guide students in the use of virtual tours b) the Student's Handbook to allow students to learn about the learning course and to be guided in the use of the virtual tour stops. 3) the creation of the CIRCLE Game: Circular Learning Evaluation Game to train the target skills and evaluate the achievement of the Learning Outcomes that respond to the training objectives programmed by the virtual tours, in a playful-didactic learning context 4) the design of the Methodological Manual of the CiCLE - Circular Creativity Labs for Entrepreneurship, to allow teachers to hold educational workshops designed to develop students' creativity, inventiveness and entrepreneurship. 5) the methodological alignment of a group of partnership teachers through transnational mobility to be carried out at the Istituto Suor Orsola Benincasa di Napoli, on the "CiCLE" model, to hold the Circular Creativity Labs for Entrepreneurship, in the role of learning facilitators 6) the testing, by the students of the partner schools involved, with the support of the teaching staff, of the OER, the further in-depth materials, the handbooks and the CIRCLE Game
The project aimed to: -Systematize a new study course, centered on entrepreneurship and circular economy skills, which was configured as an international, integrated and permanent educational framework that, through methodological innovation allowed students to develop the target skills -Experiment with innovative forms of interactive, gamified and laboratory-based teaching that are flexible and adaptable to the needs of younger generations and future European societies -Foster digital integration in learning through access to a plurality of OERs -Develop in students an early circular mind-set inherent to the sense of initiative and entrepreneurship capable of generating new creative ideas in the area of reusing and recycling resources, with the adoption of an interactive, gamified and lab teaching model, capable of evolving methods, tools, solutions and learning situations. -Align a pool of partnership teachers in a transnational mobility on the "CiCLE" model for conducting Circular Creativity Labs for Entrepreneurship to empower learners to apply the knowledge learned and translate it into "Re-CiCLE" ideas.
The project was promoted to engage, motivate and enthuse pupils in classes IV and V of Primary Schools, to the circular economy and sustainable entrepreneurship, developing in them an early circular mind-set inherent in the sense of initiative and entrepreneurship capable of generating new creative ideas in the area of resource reuse and recycling, with the adoption of an interactive, gamified and laboratory teaching model, capable of evolving methods, tools, solutions and learning situations. The project responded: to - the low circularity rate in the EU (Eurostat 2019): IT 17.1%, ES 8.2%, GR 1.3%. - the presence of uncontrolled waste disposal sites in IT (Analysis by Istituto Superiore di Sanità and Procura di Napoli Nord on 38 Campania municipalities). - the belief that a majority of people think the impact of more efficient resource use would produce a positive effect on quality of life (86%), economic growth (80%) and employment (78%) - Eurobarometer. - the evidence that the linear economy is no longer a viable option because of the large amount of waste each EU citizen generates per year (about 4 tons).
