Being educated in the arts and appreciate them from a young age can make people better people: art in fact acts on the deepest states of mind and emotions, and is nourishment of mind and spirit and stimulus to develop the expressive and creative potential of the person. For this reason, it is necessary for the civilized life and assumes a fundamental role in the global development of the individual, especially if known and loved from an early age. Starting from this concept, the project "InCanto Opera Education" intends to create a strategic partnership for the exchange of good practices for the training of teachers and musical education of students, taking as a case study the opera La Cenerentola by Gioachino Rossini, according to the methodology that the project manager has successfully experimented at national and European level. The choice to apply the didactic method to the opera comes from the awareness, shared by all partners, that its strength comes from the ability to combine music, singing, poetry, and dance in a single creative project. For this reason, the opera offers a completeness of solutions within the framework of an initiative that aims at the breaking down of cultural barriers, the musical education of the community and the development of a new audience. ICOE aims at the involvement of thousands of children in the artistic production and performance of La Cenerentola by Gioachino Rossini. Thanks to mobility e to digital platform, partners will have the opportunity to learn the teaching method and to apply it in the classroom. In this way, students from 6 to 13 will learn to perform music, to know the theatre, to learn sign language and to build their own costumes and equipment in a continuous and shared group work. Fundamental in learning will be the didactic materials: the audiobook, the free App, and the digital sharing platforms. A crucial moment in the training course will also be the creation of an European Virtual Choir formed by the students participating in the project and open to those who do not take part directly. The instruments used can be shared and disseminated both locally and nationally, offering new opportunities for the realization of future projects. Offering schools and teachers an innovative didactic approach able to actively involve students and to update the didactic paths to the changes in society, allows to bring the new generations closer to opera, music and choreutic disciplines with a positive impact on the social and territorial fabric in a capillary and permanent way.
Through the project, the main goal was to engage the younger generation in the arts and generate a lasting impact in society. The primary intention was to offer students an enriching experience, promoting the development of their cognitive and socio-emotional skills. The project also aimed to overcome cultural barriers, promote music education and broaden the perspectives and cultural horizons of all participants. Through the participation of the Magarotto institute, the aim was to foster global cultural interaction, stimulating curiosity, empathy and respect for diversity. Overall, we wanted to create an inclusive environment of cultural exchange on multiple levels, which contributes to the formation of citizens who are aware, open to dialogue and capable of making a significant contribution to global society.
The "InCanto Opera Education" project was created in order to overcome cultural barriers and promote the artistic education of the students of the schools involved, with the important relational and cultural component that an exchange between different countries can offer. The main objective was to offer young people a unique artistic experience that enriches knowledge and develops cognitive and socio-emotional skills. The choice of opera combines music, song, poetry and dance, broadening cultural perspectives and horizons. The training of teachers in the teaching method to promote holistic cultural interaction, encouraging curiosity and empathy in students is important. The participation of the Magarotto institute has further enriched the project, allowing all students, hearing and deaf, to express themselves and interact authentically through the Italian Sign Language (LIS), promoting respect and awareness of diversity within an inclusive cultural exchange environment.
