Project summary

The Project includes 5 schools from Italy, Spain, Poland, Slovenia and Turkey. The main motivation of the present project is to help pupils incorporate healthy habits and widen their vision about healthy lifestyles in the European community. Having a healthy lifestyle is connected with eating healthy, doing physical exercises, being in harmony with the nature, learning to deal with our emotions, promoting wellbeing, building healthy relationships and social support. Through the present project we approach and analyze the topic from all perspectives which were mentioned above. The partner schools have large numbers of pupils who refuse to take part in the PE classes and the amount of overweight pupils is increasing every year. Participants will develop healthy eating habits and learn how physical exercise influences our mental and psychological well-being. The project’s main aim is to develop awareness about different EU healthy lifestyles among 125 students from 5 schools during 24 months of project. In order to reach the main aim we set the following objectives:to widen participants’ knowledge and skills connected with having healthy and balanced diet -to encourage participants to lead a healthy lifestyle -to offer participants possibilities for learning in a multicultural environment -to enhance the international exchange of good practices The direct beneficiaries of our project will be 175 participants (125 students, 50 teachers). At the partnership level, we will involve 250 students (12-14 years old), 80 teachers, and approximately 200 local participants (parents, school staff, representatives of the local communities, stakeholders, guests, etc.). The common working language is English. The planned activities will give participants the opportunity to explore together the nature surrounding them, the influence of their actions on the environment and how nature affects their mental and physical health. Sport will be used as a way to communicate health information to pupils, but also to help in human relationships and team building. By organising friendly competitions, goal setting and team climate will be supported. The project clubs, international meetings face to face and the eTwinning project will provide pupils with the opportunity to develop friendship with one another. International friendship will be the source of inspiration, role models, opportunities for growth and personal development. Activities related to the topic developed during the international meetings will be introduced by each partner in their school as activities organized at the project clubs and also integrated with teaching. The activities will be in reation to the local context of each school. Pupils will be engaged in interactive activities that will enhance their ability to summarize the information, creativity, practical knowledge, critical thinking and IT competences, and healthy habits. The activities will encourage them to be more active by joining sport competitions, friendly team sports, eco-sports. Pupils’ connection with the environment will be promoted also by activities that will be organized outdoors. The activities’ aim is to show pupils that education is also possible outside school. There are study visits, trips, as well as meetings with guest speakers from different organizations that encourage having a healthy lifestyle. The project activities use the learning by doing process which will develop team work, cooperation and social cohesion. Final report summary

- context of the project The “HEALTHY LIVING” and the P.E. have reunited 4 schools from IT, SP, SI and TR (PL withdrew from the beginning) to help pupils to internalize healthy habits and broaden their vision about healthy lifestyles in the European community. Having a healthy lifestyle is about eating healthy, doing physical exercise, being in harmony with the nature, learning to live with emotions, promoting wellbeing, having healthy relationships and social support. The main needs to implement a project related to this topic were that each year our schools are confronted with more pupils who refuse to attend the PE classes and the number of overweight pupils is increasing. As educators we needed to prepare our pupils to have a healthy growth and development. Children should be the prime concern of our societies, this is why our project had an inclusive approach and that's why families and representatives of the local community were invited to join project activities - project's objectives Through this project we approached the topic from all perspectives mentioned above. Partners’ complementary expertise contributed to create a complex project built on principles of formal and non-formal learning activities. The coordinator, thanks to the online meetings, divided the topic into sub-topics and allocated same importance to each of them, and they were developed by each country. According to the reports offered by the World Health Organization, adolescents represent 42% of the world population. Adolescence is the emotional and physical transition from childhood to adulthood, the period when individuals learn behaviours that will last for the whole life. the objective is that the project will stand as an example of good practices for a long time to keep improving these results and prevent side effects of unhealthy lifestyles. During the project we wanted to increase the quality of our pupils’ lifestyles , offer an international dimension to the school curriculum, increase students’ interest in getting involved in activities that promote a healthy lifestyle, promote social responsibility and environmental education. We also compared the SWOT analysis of our schools and observed a series of common needs: decreased number of students joining sport competitions, reduced interest in joining outdoor educational activities, less time spent in the nature. The project is an example of how to build the foundation for a healthy life among pupils outside and inside classrooms. It offered a unique opportunity to practice learning by doing and discovering together with EU peers. Through our project we supported the objectives of the ET 2020, the values of the EU Public Health Programme, fostering social inclusion and health. - activities that have taken place The planned activities had a formal and non-formal approach and promotes interdisciplinarity. The project encouraged learning by doing and learning by discovering (creating and updating the Erasmus+ corner, preparation of presentations, quiz game, city game, Erasmus+ garden, Final concert). The project topic was divided into sub-topics (Happier Lifestyles, Healthy eating, Healthy mind and body, Nature from A to Z, Peace and unity, and the Polish part was divided to the participants). Pupils have learnt how to have healthy eating habits, how physical exercise impacts our mental and psychological well-being. The project clubs and the eTwinning platform provided the opportunity to develop friendship. Students were engaged in interactive activities that developed their ability to summarize the information, critical thinking and IT skills (presentation, videos, competition, dictionary), creativity (logo, poster), practical knowledge ("Medicinal herbs" exhibition, "Healthy Living, Healthy Life “symposium) and healthy habits (celebrating World Health Day, EU Food Fair). The activities also encouraged them to be more active by joining sport competitions, friendly team sports, ecosports. Pupils’ connection with the environment was promoted by activities organized outdoors. - project's results and its expected longer-term benefits. in order to assess if the project's aims have been achieved we decided to do it in the following ways: monitoring of the project, project reviews twice a year, mid-term and final evaluation, and impact assessments. Evaluation teams are formed in each partner institution to monitor the project's impact - minimum 2 teachers/ school. The task will be to monitor the frequency of the project meetings at the school's level, activities related to project, dissemination events (including Open Days), online meetings and project reunions. Partners are asked by the Italian coordinator to present their reports at every six months and share the results. A current and systematic evaluation will also help to demonstrate the real value of our project activities and improve our work.
