The European Community through its various programmes of Erasmus + offers citizens of EU member states and the possibility to make many experiences within the community and beyond through different Actions and Programmes. But for most D/deaf people (in scientific literature, the term deaf with a capital "D" refers to those deaf people who feel part of a linguistic and cultural community, while the term with a lower case "d" refers to those with hearing impairment but who do not feel part of the deaf community), these projects remain partially accessible or not accessible at all. The idea of this project was to bring together 40 young D/deaf people (10 per country) from 4 member countries (Italy, Greece, Slovenia and Poland) of the European Community, and together with them talk about how we can make the activities and offers of our European community totally inclusive. And by inclusive, we mean making EU actions and programmes for young people totally accessible to them so that they feel totally included as European citizens. The idea of bringing together young deaf/deaf people from countries of European citizenship came to us from an expressed wish of our young deaf people to talk about what is happening in their Europe and how they can be included in its activities. In addition, the "European Disability Strategy 2010-2020" aims to break down all kinds of barriers that S/deaf people may face in their full inclusion. With this strategy, the European Commission has identified eight main fields of action: accessibility, participation, equality, employment, education and training, social protection, health and external action. Therefore, our project intends to bring together young people and see how this strategy especially in its goals of accessibility and participation for the inclusion of deaf people in Europe is done. Our project objectives were: - more active participation in society as our project wants to bring together young S/deaf people from different countries of Europe to talk about a more inclusive Europe for D/deaf people thus making these young people aware of the community where they live and make them part of what it offers to them and above all we will consider how to make them fully inclusive; - raising awareness of the European project and the values of the EU as during the exchange, the 48 participants will learn about the programmes and possibilities that the EU offers to them and discuss how inclusive they are and how they can make it better at their level; - raising intercultural awareness as the 40 participants will be from different countries including deaf people with migration backgrounds, living together for a week will be an opportunity for them to open up to other cultures; - improvement of foreign language skills as the training will be conducted simultaneously in International Sign and spoken English. International Sign Language (IS), also called Gestuno, is a sign language developed by the World Federation of the Deaf in the 1950s to allow Deaf people from different countries to communicate with each other using one sign language and not the individual sign languages of each country.
