The project was born from a series of reflections and conditions that unite the social, economic and cultural reality of the current European framework. Taking our cue from the guidelines contained in the new European Youth Strategy (2019 - 2027) and from some key factors such as, for example, the increase in demand for volunteer and solidarity activities (which have grown exponentially from 2011 to the present), we thought of developing a project that would focus on young people and the opportunities that Europe offers them every day. In this sense, the object of the intervention was volunteering, declined in turn in the concept of solidarity. The aim of the CORPS project was to bring together a network of associations that promote solidarity programs and activities (with particular regard to the European Solidarity Corps) to foster the exchange of best practices and develop joint initiatives and activities for the benefit of young people. By fostering encounters between associations with different experiences, it was possible on the one hand to improve the quality of planning, and on the other to increase opportunities for networking and the development of joint projects. The specific objectives of the project were: • To encourage young people to become active citizens, bearers of values of solidarity and positive change for communities throughout Europe, inspired by EU values and a strong sense of European identity; • To raise awareness of the importance of volunteering and forms of civic engagement for the benefit of the community; • To delve into all the opportunities of the European Solidarity Corps and discover what actions may be best suited for the young people with fewer opportunities with whom each organization works; • To analyze the concept of solidarity and provide more opportunities for disadvantaged youth to participate; • To share good practices in organizing, managing and coordinating volunteer and solidarity activities; • To deepen the use of media and digital tools in solidarity project management; • To create a strong network of organizations working within the European Solidarity Corps; Last but not least, develop 4 project proposals related to the European Solidarity Corps program to be launched in the future.
