Objectives

The main objective of BeHave: Be smart, Have the knack is and has been to increase and update the quality of the mentor and supervisor roles in order to create a replicable and reusable standard, in a customised way, by organisations hosting volunteers, taking into account the individual specificities of the human resources involved. It was from and with this spirit that BeHave: Be smart, Have the knack was conducted, which aimed precisely at all those youth workers working with youth mobility programmes for voluntary activities such as the European Solidarity Corps and who are willing to get involved as Hosting Mentor or Supervisor of a mobility project or with the cascading objective of training figures within their own organisations who can become, in the immediate future, a reference point for the volunteers to be hosted. In designing, first, and then in conducting of the TC activities, emphasis was placed on thematic areas that actually represent the keystone of the mentoring and supervising architecture: listening skills, risk prevention, conflict resolution, crisis management, and the implementation of self-assessment. On the one hand, the TC therefore took the form of training and refresher courses for the figures involved in the action, and on the other hand, mentors and supervisors were able to generate a real contamination of roles through self-oriented learning practices, so that both figures, being aware of their own specificity in daily life, could find tools to refine their cooperation and guarantee a quality learning process for the volunteer.
