Integration of refugeesInclusion - equityMigrants' issues

Objectives

"We are a beautiful mosaic of different people, hopes and dream" was a cultural exchange on the theme of immigration, specifically of young refugees to Europe, aged between 18 and 25, and the consequent need to integrate them socially. The title of the project was not accidental, and intended to underline the importance of sharing and welcoming that leads to everyone's happiness. Sharing, integrating, supporting those in need and opening borders does not take anything away, but adds to everyone, because solidarity and understanding towards others are those things that multiply when you divide them. According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) there are currently 56 million migrants in Europe and this number is increasing. The triggers and causes that push migration are various and that impact all European citizens because the migration routes are different. Migration is often seen as a local opportunity, promoted and supported by governments and by various EU programs, but it is also seen as a problem, with the consequent growth of the phenomenon of xenophobia and discrimination against immigrants. All of Europe is affected by it, but Europe is called upon to operate by virtue of its reception policy. Therefore, youth workers must also respond promptly to this new challenge, first of all by knowing the phenomenon in depth starting from its causes, difficulties, opportunities and consequences. European youth workers are called upon to support young emigrants to integrate into new socio-economic contexts. Aims and objectives of the project were: - To inform and sensitize young people on issues concerning migration and reception policy starting from the understanding of the theoretical framework of migratory and new migration flows in Europe and its global effects; - Exchange of experiences and good practices in the field of youth and active citizenship related to migratory phenomena and the techniques used to facilitate the social inclusion of young political refugees; - Prepare young people to face the challenges and opportunities deriving from the phenomenon of migration; - Increase the competence of young people by offering a clear vision of the causes and effects of the phenomenon of migration and how to prevent negative effects such as the presence of stereotypes that turn into prejudices and, therefore, a collective tendency to discrimination; - Understanding the EU migration policies put into practice in the local realities of the participating countries and learning good practices; - Promote European cooperation between youth organizations, promote youth mobility and support youth engagement with immigrants in the activities of participating organizations; - Develop new initiatives in the field of migration and mobility of young people under the Erasmus + program; - Provide peer learning opportunities for participants; - Strengthen the participants' ability to go to their communities and make a difference in their own life and that of others; - Promote the social inclusion and equal opportunities of young migrants and refugees;
