Objectives

The project promoted the idea that young people can be protagonists of dynamics of change extended to other members of the community and able to regenerate relationships and urban spaces through sport and street art. The project was born from an idea developed on the net by a group of young enthusiasts of street art (murales) and street sports (parkour, Kalisthenics) who have interfaced with the municipality of Gravellona and the Association Gsh sempione (disability), interested in redeveloping the municipal stadium (the central stadium due to its barycentric location in the Province). of the VCO). The need behind the project was, in fact, to support some artistic-youth realities present in our Provicia that are still little known but with a strong potential for expression, with the aim of promoting and implementing activities to support the interaction between youth creativity, cultural production and social communication. By making the Stadium available to writers and urban sportsmen, the municipality has launched a bottom-up initiative to counteract the degradation of sites significant to the urban space of the city of Gravelona Toce encouraging its active use by young people and the community.Starting from the sharing of the needs and aims described above, the network formed by Vedogiovane, Municipality of Gravellona Toce and Associazione Gsh Sempione has initiated a dialogue and co-planning spaces with informal groups active in the city context in the fields of arts and street sports, thus making available to these youth groups their skills and resources for the encourage them to carry out their own project of socio-cultural animation and awareness-raising on social issues dear to them.Specifically, the municipality of Gravellona has made available to the youth group of writers and urban sportsmen the space of the municipal stadium, dedicating some wall surfaces to artistic interventions that, starting from the activities of Writing, have developed wider opportunities for expression. The idea shared by Vedogiovane, municipality of Gravellona and youth group met and was synergistic to the needs of the association Gsh Sempione, for years engaged locally in activities promoting sport for all (paralympic sport) and educating young people to encounter with disability, as well as education to sport for all. The association Gsh has therefore proposed to use the 500 meters of the municipal stadium, placed at Writers were invited to carry out a social communication campaign on the subject of disability; involving young people in selecting and presenting with murals a series of images useful to raise community awareness of the values of sport and inclusion. In particular, through the murals, the aim was to represent the concept of challenge in sport and life, involving young people in selecting and portraying local, national or European sports figures who have gone beyond their limits and spread meaningful messages of respect, inclusion, and for this reason deserve to be portrayed on the walls of the stadium. by young street artists. The theme was chosen to draw attention to the competitive dimension of sport, which pushes us to go beyond our limits, representing young disabled Paralympic athletes who have not stopped in the face of the limitations imposed by disability. They have worked to represent that part of competition which is not resolved by fighting against others but which consists in fighting against our difficulties, diversity anddisabilities. The outcome of the sporting challenge which has been called is therefore not victory but growth, personal development and social inclusion. We have decided to involve young people with disabilities in the exchange, giving them a voice and enabling them to engage with their peers in Europe on the issues of the limitations and challenges posed in life by diversity and disability. We wanted to enhance the skills of young people with disabilities (all with artistic or creative skills). The aim was to promote the social inclusion of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and to promote diversity in Europe; to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to participate in the construction of European values; to increase access to Erasmus opportunities who are geographically isolated and to young people with disabilities who face barriers limiting their participation in Erasmus+ projects; to bring young people closer to local and European institutions and to initiate processes of legalisation of expressive behaviour, which are sometimes characterized as illegal actions; to promote greater attendance at public spaces; to involve the process of regeneration of urban areas in the territory; to bring young people closer to the practice of the new arts and sports and to social communication on issues relevant to them.
