The main objective in implementation of the project was development of teachers’ competences in STEAM area using the good practice of other countires. The main points in improving teachers` competency was: 1) to train teachers for STEAM education programs development (for teaching modules, integrated lessons, non-formal education), for applying innovative teaching methods in their activities, because the school lacks qualified specialists who are able to plan and organize STEAM projects. 2) involve school leaders in the processes of organizing STEAM learning, helping teachers, and monitoring, 3) to continue schools projects in international level, to interest new teachers with the process of organising Erasmus+ projects for students.
Since 2018 our school has followed a strategy related to strengthening science subjects not leaving aside digital technologies. The institution aimed to join the network of STEAM schools in Lithuania, to educate teachers and students fostering nature and its recourses. In 2019 our school applied for membership to become a STEAM school and followed the established criteria. One of the essential criteria was to have competent teachers in the STEAM area and that required improvement because the institution did not have before any experience in this field. The teacher training courses in foreign countries were chosen to develop teachers'`mindset, to change teachers' attitude of thinking, we have only few teachers with a growth mindset. We needed to learn new collaboration technics from good examples, to practice planning and implementing the interdisciplinary projects, share new ideas as well as find collegues in European schools.
