Modernization and enrichment of learning environments; new ways and methods of working with students of different abilities and needs is a strategically important direction for ensuring and improving the quality and improvement of gymnasium education. We were willing to continue the previous Erasmus programme, so that different teachers of different subjects could participate in different training courses on inclusive education. Participants were able to learn new methods, ways and tools for working with students of different abilities and needs in the classroom, preventing their early withdrawal from the curriculum. Moreover they were able to share their experience with our teachers and local community as well. In the gymnasium, educators lacked knowledge and skills on this topic. We strive to gain international experience and practices on this topic, which we can successfully implement in our gymnasium. We needed to find new ways and solutions to the existing problems with the additional goal of sharing good practices among educational staff in order to analyze and solve existing problems not only that of Lithuania, but the whole of Europe.
We applied for this project in order to implement the gymnasium's mission - to find and implement the best environment for education; to ensure equal rights for all pupils to acquire the education that meets their needs and possibilities; to guarantee the quality of education that meets the standards of the European Union, based on the traditions of the nation.Furthermore, we want to emphasize that one of the strategic goals of our gymnasium is to increase the efficiency of learning, taking into account the abilities and needs of each student. We wanted to be able to apply effective modern teaching strategies, adapting individual assessments of the achievements of each child, so that all students, according to their abilities and needs, can obtain the relevant knowledge and skills that they will not only use in their further life but it could help them in choosing a career path. After the mobility of Erasmus KA101 in 2018, the gymnasium community has implemented the topics of inclusive education; we really wanted to extend, deepen and share knowledge and encourage as many educators as possible to study this topic that is relevant to our gymnasium community.
