While implementing the project, we aimed to: -Improve the quality of education in order to achieve the individual progress of each student -Strengthen the integrity and continuity of educational activities, purposefully connecting formal and informal education -Promote the professional development and cooperation of community members at the institutional, national and international level, realizing the values of inclusive education. These were the main goals, linked to the Center's 2019-2021 strategic plan, the conclusions of the internal self-evaluation of the Center's performance quality and the aspects to be improved in the external evaluation report. Targeted professional development of teachers and specialists at the international level contributed to the implementation of the Center's strategy by improving the quality of lessons and strengthening the effectiveness of educational support, in order to achieve optimal personal progress of students. With knowledge and good international work experience, the employees are able to use effective, innovative educational methods for students with ASD, create a modern, safe and learning-stimulating environment, and select appropriate learning resources that meet the needs of students.
Having ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, like other countries that have done so, Lithuania undertook to respect the dignity and right of children with disabilities to be equal participants in society. Openness to the world, social diversity, pedagogical innovations and children's creativity are the agreed values of inclusive education, to which the Pranas Daunys Education Center of Kaunas actively contributes, preparing its students for life in society and sharing good professional experience with the country's school communities. In order to give the teachers of the Center the opportunity to acquire the latest knowledge and skills necessary for working with students with special needs, to learn from the good international experience, to adopt it, to improve the quality of education and to continue sharing the acquired knowledge on a city and national levels, we decided to implement this project, because only a prepared teacher is the key to the success of inclusive education.
