Due to the growth of right-extremists and nationalisms some rights and democracy are stepping back in several parts of Europe and there is a greater hostility within society itself, even though there is an increasing awareness on fracturing topics, namely gender issues, also related issues such as LGBT. As gender equality or inclusion movements are born, many others proliferate, threatening this equality of rights. There are still a lot misinformation in western society about this topic. There are still many doubts about what is feminism and other similar concepts, about the difference between equality and equity, among others. That was when the idea for the youth exchange “Gender Equity Toolkit” came about to try to answer these questions. Besides, taking into account that the European Community defends a fair, inclusive and tolerant society, it was essential to give a time to promote certain values, such as equality, democracy and human rights. Democracy is not as acquired as it seems and it is our responsibility as civil society – namely the younger generations – to ensure that is maintained. This way, the youth exchange met the Erasmus+ program objectives and worked as an opportunity in a personal and professional level, since it allowed the participants (and not only) to gain personal and professional competences that prepare them for the world of work and for the future in the European society, in which they belong as citizens with full rights. The objectives of this project were as follow: - Promote gender equality, LGBT and every equality issues, inclusion and solidarity; - Promote human rights; - Promote democracy, EU values and EU itself; - Guarantee active participation; - Understand the functioning of the democratic institutions; - Promote the multicultural dialogue; - Acquire personal and professional competences; - Develop critic sense and supported opinion; - Fight fake news and other post-true concepts; - Fight hate and discrimination; - Promote Erasmus+ program; - Create viral campaigns dedicated to gender and LGBT issues. With this objectives, we contributed for a more fair, inclusive and peaceful European society, according to the Erasmus+ program objectives, and to meet the young necessities and motivations, in an increasing pressing topic.
