The main idea of this project is to strengthen the already existing relations with our twin towns. An essential point will be to promote exchange and communication between young people from each country in order to promote their dialogue and interaction between their peers. Indeed, the young people cared for by the Youth Service of the municipality of Mondorf-les-Bains are mostly from socially and financially weak families. A large part are vulnerable and disoriented, dropping out of school and have difficulty finding their way in society. At the youth center "Jugendstuff Munneref", they find advice, support and support to integrate (or reintegrate) into the world of education or work. There they (re)learn the rules of life and obtain non-formal socio-educational learning. They rarely have the opportunity to discover cities other than their hometown. This youth exchange project between the twinned towns therefore gives them the opportunity not only to get to know Luxembourg and the history of the European Union better, but also to be able to travel to other towns and live similar experiences there. The main theme during this meeting will be, among other things, the differences between cultures and customs, but also the emergence and history of the Europe of which we are a part. The tools used to do this will be sport, playful discovery, interactive games and non-formal education. In order to strengthen the link between youth organizations and the municipalities, the municipality of Mondorf-les-Bains launched the project already in 2018 by inviting the services working for youth in the respective countries to meet to set up a project of several years, providing that each year another country is the host country. Two organizing meetings took place in Luxembourg and Switzerland in 2018; a first meeting between young people took place in France in 2019. At that time, the young people expressed the desire to continue this experience of meeting and exchange. Due to the pandemic, the second meeting could only take place in 2022, namely in July in Luxembourg in August 2022. The main objectives of this year's project were the following: The project's objectives: Promote common values, support and develop values such as tolerance, freedom of expression and respect for others. Publicize the opportunity of the Erasmus plus program Promote better understanding between different peoples and cultures and encourage intercultural dialogue Promote international and social relations with and between young people in each country (multilingualism, key skills for respectful dialogue) Take young people out of their comfort zone and usual environment in order to promote open-mindedness Motivate young people to activities, especially cultural and sporting ones Encourage young people to become responsible and respectful citizens (active citizenship) Teach and make known the emergence of the EU and make young people aware of the different facets of Europe, make them aware of European values Maintain cooperation with other services working with young people Highlight the importance of respect for others and motivate young people to invest in others, open up to solidarity Promoting youth creativity and fantasy The young people concerned by this project being partially disadvantaged and vulnerable, mutual exchanges are very important so that they discover the differences between the privileges and the difficulties of each country and so that they regularly question themselves, that they develop a critical questioning and that they better understand the resources, strengths and weaknesses of their daily lives. For these young people, it is a privilege and a chance to travel with friends to other European countries, to discover different cultures and customs, while meeting new people in a safe environment.
