The aim of the EHTL has been to give students of various hotel, restaurant and tourism courses the opportunity to gain practical experience in places that can offer a considerable number of internship places in the hospitality sector abroad. The choice in Luxembourg is limited. Therefore it is essential for the development of young people, both professionally and personally, to experience an internship in Europe. The majority of our students in vocational training have neither the possibility nor the motivation to study abroad. Therefore, it is all the more important for these students to have an international experience thanks to the support of Erasmus+ grants. Moreover, Luxembourg is a small country in the centre of Europe and is dedicated to the international scene. The EHTL tries to transmit European values, which have become even more important after two years of the pandemic, by promoting mobility in Europe.
The present application is in fact a recurrent application which is in line with the natural positioning of the school. Indeed, all students of the Luxembourg School of Hotel Management and Tourism who follow a full-time training course either for the Technician in Hotel Management or Tourism or for the Diploma of Professional Aptitude in Hotel Management, Restaurant Management or Cooking must complete a practical training period in a company of at least ten weeks in the different practical sectors according to their chosen training path: reception, back-office or a department of the tourist sector, service or cooking. The first two years of their training must in principle be completed in Luxembourg and then the practical training can continue abroad. This is why we actively promote Erasmus+ mobility so that students can broaden their professional, cultural and personal horizons. In order to enable them to have an international professional career, it is important that the students get a taste for mobility in order to acquire the know-how and professionalism of small, medium and large companies throughout Europe. Over the years, the EHTL has also seen a growing interest in school and internship activities abroad.
