During the project we wanted to: 1) to deepen the knowledge of Reggio Emilia's pedagogical approach, Bruno Munari's creative method, the Montessori method, as well as other alternative pedagogical approaches to promote children's creative thinking and self-expression in mathematics and science; 2) to improve the learning environment of the institution's groups in accordance with the new pedagogical approaches; 3) to improve children's construction and building skills - from idea to result, to promote their cognitive interest in natural materials and their application in creative activities; 4) to train teachers in the project method according to the principles of the Reggio Emilia approach and implement it in work with children; 5) to improve teachers' linguistic skills; 6) to popularize the good practice of Babīte PII.
The competence-based content of preschool education requires a lot of new skills and knowledge from teachers, a change of thinking and attitude. By supplementing existing and gaining new knowledge about pedagogical approaches, as well as gaining new experience, both preschool management and teachers will be better able to provide a meaningful learning process - creative, self-directed, diverse.. In a previous study, we found that we wante to learn more about the Italian Reggio Emilia approach and learn new, creative methods for working with preschoolers. Previous Babīte PII Erasmus + projects prove that teachers who have been on mobility have been more open to new ideas. The need for this project was determined by the following needs: - Insufficient knowledge and skills of teachers in creating a positive emotional learning environment; - the need to strengthen the implementation of innovative pedagogical approaches in pre-school education practice; - lack of knowledge in organizing creative and self-directed learning process in groups and outdoors; - the need to strengthen the capacity of teachers with poor English language skills who have not yet been involved in learning mobility in the EU.
