One of the goals of the educational institution is to create a favourable environment for staff growth and professional development, thus motivating teachers and increasing the intellectual capacity of the institution. Based on the European development plan for 2020, where educational processes cover all types of education and where the main goal is high-quality and inclusive education for personality development, people's well-being and sustainable national growth, for that reason, it is necessary to promote the motivation and professional capacity of educators. The European Development Plan correspondents the school's Development Strategy. Education should last a lifetime and become an organic part of our daily life, consciously and motivatedly acquiring education, in accordance with personal and social interests, regardless of social, economic or health status. This goal is closely related to the goal of the European Development Plan 2020 to prevent learners from leaving school early. In order to achieve the set goal, highly professional educators are needed who know how to motivate young people to see the meaning of their lives and achieve their aims. The Erasmus+ program is an important tool for professional growth, broadening horizons, and introducing the European dimension. The courses broadened teachers' knowledge of European countries, their multicultural society, and made them feel a sense of belonging to Europe. It was a great opportunity for teachers to meet other European teachers, exchange opinions and examples of good practice, establish new contacts with colleagues in other countries, thus integrating an intercultural element into school life. The teachers needed the courses to improve their language competence, improve the teaching methodology, and gain new insights into the use of modern technologies. The learned teaching methods gave teachers the opportunity to use diverse forms of work within the lessons, giving students the opportunity to work individually, in groups and in improvised workshops, as well as to work on interdisciplinary tasks over a longer period of time. The acquired skills helped the teachers to organize the learning process in an engaging and attractive way for the student, promoting the basic principles of the learning process: self-awareness, self-directed learning, thinking and creativity, cooperation and participation.
The aim of the school is to provide good education to students from all social backgrounds. The school has its future development plan with the strategic goal: A school - open to useful innovation, which develops a sense of belonging to its community, promoting students' responsibility, creativity and respect for diversity. The 21st century has brought changes in the educational system and created the need for the professional competences of educators and new skills to ensure a modern and innovation-based learning process. Kandava Regional Elementary School is actively involved in this process of change and the school management staff encourages and supports teachers to gain knowledge about the content and methodology of global education in order to ensure quality education offer by modernizing the content and teaching methodology, thus creating a positive image of the school. Education becomes an organic part of our everyday life, it is fashionable to be knowledgeable. The teacher of each subject feels the world entering the classroom. This creates a need for lifelong learning competencies (foreign languages, IT skills) and global education. Living in a modern and competitive society, education must change - it must be modernized and adapted to new ways of learning and training, so that as a result students develop knowledge, skills and attitudes which are important for the 21st century. In order to achieve this goal, professionally educated and motivated educators are needed, who help young people set goals and achieve them. For the reasons mentioned above, we have chosen to give teachers the opportunity to receive professional education abroad within the framework of the Erasmus + project, so that when they return from the courses, they will be more knowledgeable in methodology, more self-confident and more efficient in planning their lessons and sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues.
