Objectives

Competences acquired abroad contribute to students personal growth, employment and access to the European labor market. Such experience, in addition to professional competencies, improves students knowledge of foreign languages, strengthens their independence, as well as creates an understanding of the importance of intercultural life in the daily lives of students. Also, taking into account the feedback from the students, it can be concluded that at least 90% of the former students abroad believe that after returning from mobility abroad, they have the opportunity to get a better job in Latvian companies. Participants can further apply the experience gained abroad both when working in Latvian companies and in companies in other countries. The active participation of students in the labor market is a benefit at both national and European level. The foreign experience gained for teachers and employees of Valmieras tehnikums helps to enrich the content of study, as well as to create new initial vocational education programs. For professionals of Valmieras tehnikums within the framework of this project, the main topic was the educational program "Renewable Energy".Foreign experience has also made it possible to establish new contacts.

Background

The goals of the project "Professional Development for New Challenges" were to promote the strengthening and development of the knowledge and skills of Valmieras tehnikums students by gaining work experience in an international environment and to improve the priority educational content at Valmieras tehnikums by adapting experience from vocational education systems and companies in different countries.
