Generation Y or Millennials are the best-educated generation ever according to a special report compiled by The Economist. But at the same time fewer and fewer millennials are becoming Entrepreneurs compared to previous generations and it’s becoming more common for millennials to live at home (5 percentage points higher than the share of Generation Xers at that age). Based on Eurostat data 56% of young adults aged 20-29 in EU-28 lived with their parents and 40% aged 25-29. In addition, OECD shows that only 23% of young people volunteered time to an organization in the past month during the year. Generation Y is well educated with a rich knowledge base, but with a lack of self-initiative and entrepreneurial skills. Based on Youthpass definition „Sense of initiative refers to an individual's ability to turn ideas into action. It involves creativity, innovation and risk-taking, as well as the ability to plan and manage projects in order to achieve objectives. Sense of initiative helps in all aspects of life - at work, home and society. “ At the same time, Generation Y is reporting the highest levels of stress and depression than any other generation at the same age. Therefore the main aim of “Project Y” was to develop a sense of initiative in young adults through non-formal education methods and outdoor activities in order to improve their standard of living and ability to reach their goals.
