The Baltic Buffet - Food Fusion was a youth exchange project that brought together youth from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Spain, and eight accompanying group leaders. The project aimed to promote unity in diversity through the theme of creativity in cooking and in life, culture, healthy eating habits, and healthy lifestyles through non-formal learning and experience sharing. The project took place in Riga, Latvia, and utilized food as a means of social integration. Food had always played an essential role in people's lives, providing links between different traditions, fostering communication, cultural wealth, and social integration. The activity was held in the center of Riga, close to the medieval Old Town. It was estimated that around 3,000 languages were threatened throughout the world, and communication played a crucial role in society. The universal language of cooking and its cultural manifestations were used as a means of communication and social integration in this project. The aim was to create awareness of the immense cultural heterogeneity of the world, promote reflection and critical thinking about growing cases of discrimination in society, and advocate for respect for diversity and interreligious dialogue through the study of different dishes and cooking traditions in different cultures. The project aimed to encourage participants to acquire new artistic and creative skills, foster initiative among young people, enhance communication skills through cooking and yoga, promote understanding of media functions in a critical way through ICT tools, involve participants in project development and create a continuity plan for KA1 activities. The project also aimed to promote the principles of the Erasmus+ program and the use of the YouthPass tool for non-formal learning of new competencies, achieve common objectives related to youth development and the fight against discrimination, promote the creation of new youth mobility projects that promote entrepreneurial spirit and youth initiatives, and consolidate good practices and logistic and human relationships between partners. The project also aimed to open doors to new international organizations with similar goals. Throughout the project, emphasis was placed on involving all participants in their own development and responsibilities. Participants were encouraged to create their own projects and were provided with tools for media literacy, critical thinking, and youth initiative. The diversity of the participants' origins, environments, and customs provided a rich element of cultural diversity and common values.
