Objectives

Taking this training we were aiming to achieve two main objectives. The first was gaining knowledge and competences which can help teachers to deal properly with classroom situations without negatively effecting the students. The second was building skills in staff which will lead to increased quality of education by integrating the knowledge acquired. On a deeper level, these specific teacher related objectives were : improvement of self - awareness, emotional control, self - motivation and relational skills, growing emotional intelligence that will work well in preventing bulling and other forms of unhealthy behavior, wider influence on students behavior, knowledge for better preparing dual - purpose classes, enhanced tolerance for students emotions etc. Students related objectives were: improved learning performances, supporting and safe learning space, more adaptive behavior, better emotion management relationships and learning motivation etc. It is expected this training to have an impact on school development programs also. There will be improvement on management skills and openness for international collaboration. We expect to gain knowledge and experience in preparation and implementation of EU/ international programs.

Background

By applying for this project we expected to improve our teaching staff skills for communication and social - emotional skills, because we think that this skills are very important in educating children. As an elementary school our main focus is teaching children not only knowledge of facts and data specific for science fields but skills useful for successful life in their adult life. Soft skills are very important in the society that we live in right now and we consider these a key to success. We would like to make a school climate that is more open, empathetic and understanding for all our students and staff.
