In our School's Development Plan, our educators' training and support is a primary focus. This is an important tool to empower our teaching staff with necessary skills both professionally and personally, and to embrace new challenges which they have been facing with the revision of the National Curricula. Moreover, we believe that this is essential to maintain continuous improvement for our students by assisting them with their needs academically, emotionally and psychosocially. Through these courses we wanted to motivate our educators to continuously progress professionally especially in the use of new tools and methodologies in their teaching and learning process. This was already approached in the first part of this 3 tier project, and it has helped us with the new challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, when our educators had to make an overnight shift to online platforms. In fact, these courses helped them embrace this challenge better and topped up their skills to reach our students. After the outcomes and effects of the Covid19 pandemic, we felt a deeper need to support our staff in learning about new strategies related to facing stressful situations at work and how to help them reach a work-life balance. Through these courses, we wanted our staff to feel part of a wider European community and be more aware of our students' emotional needs and behaviour and acquire skills on how to promote stronger classroom relationships and stronger relationships between one another as colleagues.
Quality education is one of the core principles at De La Salle College. Our educators have always sought to provide this in the best way possible. Moreover, an inclusive community, which is another core principal of the college, can only be guaranteed if our educators continue to grow professionally. In such a challenging and ever changing educational system, in which assessment modes are continuously changing, we felt the need to equip our educators with more skills and knowledge which they can apply in their class pedagogies with students. We therefore deemed it important to provide our educators with a new professional growth opportunity and create a real European educational dimension for our School community. When R.E.S.U.L.T.S. was submitted, the aim was to have a 3 tier plan focusing on a specific group and offering relevant courses accordingly. This time round, we deemed it important to provide the necessary support to the Learning Support Educators who face behavioural challenges at school, by providing peer to peer support and encouraging their individual professional growth. Furthermore, just when the first mobilities were about to start, the world was faced with additional travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this period, educators faced a difficult challenge to switch to online platforms to deliver their teaching overnight. This, together with other challenges and difficulties brought about by COVID-19, raised a further need to support our educators' mental and emotional wellbeing further.
