Objectives

Implement better ways of teaching and learning skills by means of addressing emotional intelligence. We wanted to learn basic knowledge about what should we do to gain more tolerance, better listening skills and more respect in class and at school in general. We aimed to learn what is best to do in order to create a positive attitude between us the educators and the students. How to be emotionally sensitive and in what ways should we be more sensitive when it comes to listening skills - even though we are always busy in class in order to get along with our vast syllabi. What type of communication skills can we apply in class to address the best teaching and learning experiences to all students' abilities. What resources should we opt to use to engage ourselves with the students and help them get focused on the subject matter; even if they are during their last lesson and they are tired or they are coming to our lesson after a break and they do not feel much into it. By implementing the project, we wanted to achieve better classroom management by means of being capable of adapting ourselves to all situations. Sometimes even the weather can change our mood and behaviour, but implementing this project, will help us overcome all situations.

Background

As educators we feel the need to be emotionally strong in order to deliver lessons and cater the best education to all students. However, we decided to follow the Emotional Intelligence course to learn basic skills and find out better ways about how to deal with classroom challenges. We wanted to learn skills such as applying music therapy during our lessons in order to help students get engaged with us during lessons. We also wanted to learn tips of how to address multi-culturalism and multi-ethnicity in class. Also how to self control our emotions when facing students with challenging behaviour. How to introduce challenges on our daily basis and give space to self-motivation. Our main aim was to learn how to be effective educators in the digital era. How to be proactive and come out with solutions. How to self control our behaviour and what to do when a student challenge us in class or there is lack of motivation?
