Background

The Environment.Skills I project came from the success of the last project and was aiming to make stronger that EE is a broad concept implying so many different aspects of life (personal, professional, etc.). Supported and encouraged by the Maltese Ministry of Education, NTM applied to the Environment.Skills I, with the aim to create a pool of staff-teachers capable in providing best possibilities for shaping people’s value orientations, this both through formal education, non-formal education and indirect shaping (from child to parent, etc). The project planned to moulde a new way to implement EE, showing as sustainable development is a system of knowledge, skills, attitudes and value orientations, which enables to making people conscious of the relations of the natural, economic, and socio-cultural environment, focusing thereby on the idea of sustainable development: - providing participants with tools, ideas and best practices as well as practical experience and knowledge on how to integrate outdoor education in formal education. - fostering excellence and innovation in education by equipping teachers and education staff with knowledge and skills to integrate outdoor education activities in education programmes.
