The main aim of the project was to improve quality of service standards in the Maltese catering sector & provide wider horizons for participants working at restaurants. The QA seal is an optional scheme offering businesses the possibility for higher levels of quality, consistency and professionalism. Training opportunities offered by MTA mainly to QA businesses, strive to constantly upgrade standards. For potential QA businesses, the aim is to continue developing set standards of excellence in overall performance, leading to required specifications. Since MTA is also intent on providing training to potential QA businesses in helping employees learn more about the sector, share the experience of counterparts in other EU countries, and learn to adapt acquired good practice to their workplace, this mobility was identified as ideal. The project focused on all QA businesses and potentially QA restaurants. It intended to support the development of excellence in client service and competencies for VET Staff, so to improve overall performance in customer care and sharing knowledge and competencies with other staff members. Major areas tackled: Profession & sector dynamics; Contemporary Hospitality Techniques & Tools; Menu and Wine
To provide opportunities of improvement for the Maltese catering sector in high level quality assurance and offer employees the opportunity to achieve wider perspectives in their profession through VET. Policies set up by the Maltese Government, as per National Tourism Policy (2015-2020) demand constant upgrading in competences of service providers and VET staff members in various touristic businesses, to improve on customer care. Thus, a number of sector-specific initiatives are being promoted through the project. Needs arising from increasing numbers of travelers visiting the Islands point towards solid improvement of service, since demands and expectancies tend towards perfection. Both QA businesses already sealed and others aiming towards that standard of excellence, are included in MTA's outreach seeking to promote better quality of service. The main aim is congruent to EU Commission’s emphasis on importance of quality in all services leading to enhanced economical growth which in turn expands competitive potential of all concerned. Such improvement encompasses all levels of service providers, thus MTA offered this opportunity to middle managers so as to provide an improved impact on management, business plans, innovations and customer.
