Objectives

1. To improve knowledge and skills with regards to the day-to-day end-user operations of the National Qualifications Database and keep it updated. 2. Developing internal procedures related to the National Qualifications Database; 3. By visiting 3 different institutions, which were the Institute of Slovenia for Vocational Education and Training, Estonian Qualification Authority and The Academic Information Centre. The three institutions delivered to MFHEA personnel their hand experience and coordinated well together on how to Improve the day-to-day end-user operations of the National Qualifications Database.

Background

This was part of another project of the MFHEA to update the National Qualifications Database in order to have national qualifications with an EQF level published on the Learning Opportunities and Qualifications in Europe Portal. This was being done to provide more transparent information at the European level on qualifications that are part of national qualifications frameworks. The application was submitted in order to help employers, education and training establishments and individuals to have direct access to information on qualifications across Europe. The opportunity for job shadowing abroad with European colleagues is to have direct experience with other institutions and how they achieve new experiences. The project shall place the MFHEA in a better position to properly coordinate the day-to-day end-user operations to keep updated on the National Qualifications Database as well as to improve and develop further the services rendered to individuals and stakeholders. It was well designed to send four MFHEA staff members to visit each of the designated hosting organizations. The staff member that took part in the job shadowing exercised however the exposure to different facets of the organization's varied departments and related functions. This was done in conjunction with the host organisations so that staff can go for a minimum of two to three days to cover all the necessary areas related to the ongoing project.
