Objectives

We wanted to amplify our teachers' teaching techniques with more innovative techniques and come to an uniform approach for class management. This would benefit our learners as lessons would become more structured and predictable. This leads to less chaos and a better learning atmosphere. This helps with the goals we set in this application where we strive to have our learners become more engaged in school, their results and their own learning process.

Background

In 2016 there was an urgent need to revise the apporach used at our Mavo department. We saw early school leave, ppor resultats and a lack of effective teaching were there was no engagement from our learners. They did not feel valued and recoginised in their specific talents and needs. Reaching learners full potential in a classroom cannot occour alongside misbehaviour and chaos. Effective classroom management is key in order to have learners flourish. To achieve these goals we consulted Peter Teitler. With him we set up an incomapny training process over the period of two years improving classroom management skills and we were able to implement a new didactic. This was based on the whole school approach. Throughout that process we found that there was a need for educating our teachers in more innovative teaching methods that will benefit our learners. This is why we applied. We found that our teachers would benefit from exchanging best practices on these topics with teachers and educational staff from other countries.
