As written in the School Plan, we wanted to develop colleagues with courage and confidence, colleagues who are socially involved and who also have an open and broad view of the world. We thought it was important that the large part of the staff became more knowledgeable about traditions, customs and political realities elsewhere. Our opinion was that if colleagues are aware of global issues such as sustainability, security, scarcity and migration, they become better global citizens and can therefore better guide our students on the path to global citizenship. With the opportunities offered by this subsidy, we wanted to visit schools that were a step further in releasing students. By this we mean that we visited schools that, in our view, have found a way to make students more independent in choosing the right way to learn for them. We wanted to renew our education by paying attention to differentiation and to find formulas to give students space within our school building to better develop their capabilities.
The Chr. College Groevenbeek had two goals in mind: 1. transform staff into "global citizens"; 2. reflect on the concept of "ownership of learning" and implement a new form of education to promote students' independence and motivation.
