Objectives

DC is going to make it possible for every student and employee to have an experience abroad. The goal is that by 2022 internationalization is firmly embedded within DC's organization and that it is possible for every student and employee to have an international experience. DC then sets a goal that the number of actual mobilities will continue to increase and that by 2025 at least 6% of students will have undergone an international exchange while studying at DC. Should Covid19 make travel impossible for long periods of time, we focus more and more on internationalization@home. Team internationalization, besides the DC goals, also focuses on European goals that are important for a valuable future. Social Inclusion is an important theme; we want to give all students at all programs and levels the opportunity to have an international learning experience. For our employees, international cooperation offers them the opportunity to keep abreast of the latest developments in order to discover new (didactic) skills and (teaching) methods.

Background

Drenthe College is aware of the importance of students and employees having international competencies to function well in society and the labor market. As starting points, DC uses the verbs trust, dare and grow. The way to challenge themselves and others and contribute to a valuable future. In the quality agenda, DC describes four strategic pillars on which we will focus in the coming years. These pillars are: 1. Everyone is welcome 2. A challenging learning environment 3. Partner in the region 4. More than a diploma Internationalization is categorized under pillar 4, but can, if sufficiently secured, contribute to all of DC's strategic pillars. The safeguarding within the organization has now been met, with the appointment of an internationalization department in 2017. The internationalization team consists of 1 fte coordinator, 1 administrative assistant and 1 controller and falls under the Education, Policy and ICT department. In addition, responsible IBPV coordinators have been appointed at each location, 6 in total, each with a task summary of 0.1 fte.
